FaceShot privacy policy
FaceShot is a multiplayer shooter made by Boko Games ("we", "us") in which every player wears a picture they
choose. This policy covers the FaceShot app for Android (com.bokogames.faceshot) and for
Windows.
Questions or requests: dev@bokogames.com.
The short version
- You choose a picture, usually of your face. It stays on your device, and while you are in a room every player in that room sees it. Rooms are public.
- FaceShot has no server of its own, no accounts, no ads, no purchases, no analytics and no crash reporting.
- The game never recognizes or identifies faces.
Your picture
Where it comes from
- You pick a photo from your gallery or take one with your phone's camera app. On Windows you pick an image file. The game uses the picture you choose and nothing else from your gallery or camera.
- You crop it yourself. The game shrinks the crop to a small image (128 by 160 pixels, at most 16 KB).
The automatic check
- Before the picture is saved, a check on your device looks for nudity. It runs entirely on your device and sends nothing anywhere. It may refuse a harmless picture; a refused picture is not saved.
- The check does not detect, measure or recognize faces, and the game creates no face template or biometric data.
Who sees it
- When you join a room, the game sends your picture to the other players in it through Photon, a game networking service. They see it on your character's head and on the scoreboard while you are in the room. Their devices keep it in memory only and discard it when the game closes.
- Rooms are public, and other players can take screenshots. We cannot recall a copy someone already took. Upload only a picture you are fine with strangers seeing.
- Upload only pictures you have the right to use: never another person without their consent, and never a minor who is not you.
Reporting and blocking
- If you report another player's picture, your device emails it to our report address with that player's install ID, so we can review it. The email goes from your own email app, so we also see your email address.
- We keep reported pictures only as long as the review needs, and at most 90 days.
- If you block a player, the block is stored on your device only.
Changing or deleting it
In Settings you can change your picture at any time or delete it. The picture is stored only on your device, so uninstalling the game, or clearing its storage, deletes it too.
Other data
- Player name. You type it yourself, up to 12 letters or digits. Players in your room see it. Room names you host appear in the public room list.
- Install ID. A random code the game creates when it is first opened. It is sent to the players in your room so they can block you and so a report can name you. It is not linked to your name, account or device, and a reinstall creates a new one.
- Game data. Your team, score, movement and shots in a match.
- Connection data. Photon receives your IP address, as any internet connection does, and a random session ID.
- On your device: the picture, your player name, the install ID, the version of the terms you accepted, your blocks and your settings.
There is no chat, no voice and no microphone use. Single mode plays offline against bots and sends nothing.
Who receives the data
- Other players in your room: your picture, player name, install ID and how you play.
- Photon (Exit Games GmbH, Germany) carries this between the players' devices and keeps it only while you are in the room. See Photon's privacy policy.
- Us, only when someone reports your picture.
- Unity: the Unity engine the game is built with may send Unity Technologies basic technical information about the device, such as its model and operating system version, that does not identify you.
We do not sell data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Permissions
- Photos or storage, and camera, only when you choose a picture. Recent Android versions open the system picker without any permission.
- Internet, for Multi mode. No location, microphone or contacts permission.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including Israel and the European Union, you may have the right to see, correct or delete data about you. A picture of your face is personal data. The only copy of your picture we may hold is a reported one; write to dev@bokogames.com and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority; in Israel, that is the Privacy Protection Authority.
Children
FaceShot is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child under 13 uploaded a picture that we received in a report, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. When the change affects your picture, the game asks you to accept the new terms before your next upload or room.
